How to become a Charted Accountant?
Are you class 12 Student, who is going to
appear for Public Examination?
At First, you have to register with BoS
(Board of Studies Knowledge Portal), after appearing in Class 12 Examination,
either before June 30th or December 31st of the same year.
After applying, you are eligible to attend,
the Foundation Exam in November of same year, if you have applied before 30th
June or in May, if you have applied between July to December of previous year. After, Clearing Foundation Examination, you have to
register for intermediate examination.
If you have cleared any exam of the
Institute of Cost Accountants and Institute of Company Secretaries of India,
you can directly apply for Intermediate Course, leaving Foundation Course.
After Clearing foundation examination, you
can appear for the intermediate exam, only after, 8 months of study period.
Meanwhile, you need to undergo four weeks course on ICITSS (Integrated Course
on Information Technology and Soft Skills) and clear the same.
After Clearing ICITSS and Intermediate
examination, you can register for Practical training. Intermediate Course
Examination, consists of 2 groups. You need to clear both the groups, to
register for CA Final course. In case, you have cleared only one, you can
register for Practical Training. Since, Duration of Practical Training is 3
years. You can clear another group of Intermediate Course before the training
is completed. At the completion of 3 years, Practical Training, you can
register for CA Final course and only if you have cleared both the groups of Intermediate
Course.
If you are a Commerce Graduates/Post
Graduates, who have scored above 55% and Non-Commerce Graduates/ Post
Graduates, who have scored more than 60%. You can register for ICITSS and join
3 years of practical training straight away, without foundation course. And
after, 9 months of Practical training, you can appear for intermediate course
examination.
After, clearing Intermediate course
examination, you can complete advanced ICITSS course in the last 2 years of
Practical Training. At the completion of Advanced ITICSS, you can appear for
Final Course Examination, during the last six months of Practical Training.
Now, you have to clear the Final
Examination and complete the Practical Training. Once, you have cleared the
Final Course Examination, you can apply for membership at ICAI and become a
Chartered Accountant.
About CA Examination
CA Foundation
Examination (CPT) – The Foundation Course Exam
is for the candidates, who have cleared Class 12 examination. Also, Commerce
Graduates/Post Graduates, who have scores less than 55% and Non-Commerce
Graduates, who have scores less than 60% have appear in Foundation Examination.
Foundation Examination will have 4 papers. Principles and Practice of Accounting will be the
first paper. While, Business Laws & Business Correspondence and Reporting
will be the second. This paper, will be of 2 sections. Business Laws as Section
A, Business Correspondence and Reporting as Section B.
Third paper in
Foundation Examination will be Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning
&Statistics. This paper will have 2 parts. Part 1 will be Business Mathematics
and Logical Reasoning. Part 2 will be Statistics. The Fourth Paper will be
Business Economics & Business and Commercial Knowledge. This paper, will
also have 2 parts. In this paper, Business Economics and Business &
Commercial Knowledge, will be the Part 1 and Part 2 respectively.
First and Second
Paper of Foundation will be of descriptive type and third & fourth paper
will be objective type, with negative marking of one-fourth mark. You will need
to obtain at least 40% in each paper, and aggregate of all four papers should
be 50% of total 200 marks, to clear the foundation course examination.
CA Intermediate
Course is complied of 2 categories, Group 1 and Group 2. You can choose to
appear for one selected group of your choice or both the groups. Like
Foundation Course, CA Intermediate course also have 4 papers in each group.
In Group 1,
Accounting will be the first paper, while Corporate & Other Laws will be
the second. This second paper, has 2 parts. Part 1 will be company law and
Other Laws will be the part 2. Cost and Management Accounting will be the third
paper, where, taxation will be the fourth paper. This paper also has two
sections, namely, Income-tax Law and Indirect Taxes.
In Group 2,
Advanced Accounting will be the fifth paper, Auditing and Assurance will be the
sixth. The seventh paper will be Enterprise Information Systems & Strategic
Management. This paper compromises of 2 sections, Enterprise Information
Systems and Strategic Management. The final paper will be Financial Management
& Economics for Finance. Here, Financial Management will be Section A and
Economics for finance will be Section B.
You have to secure
40% mark in each paper and a minimum of 50% mark in aggregate of that group.
Also, if you have appeared in all papers of one group and secure 60% mark in
one of the papers of that group, you shall be exempted in appearing in those
papers in next 3 attempts.
Like, previous examinations,
CA Final Course also has 2 groups. Group 1 and Group 2. Both groups has 4
papers each. Financial Reporting is the first paper in Group 1. While,
Strategic Financial Management is the second. Advanced Auditing and
Professional Ethics being the third paper, Corporate and Economic laws will be
the fourth and last paper of Group 1 in CA Final Course Examination.
In Group 2 of CA
Final Course Examination, Strategic Cost Management and Performance Evaluation
will be the first paper. While, the second paper is elective, you have option
to choose one from six papers. Elective Papers follows: Risk Management,
Financial Services & Capital markets, International Taxation, Economic
Laws, Global Financial Standards and Multi-Disciplinary Case studies
The third paper
of Group 2 will be Direct Tax laws & International Taxation with 2 parts.
Direct Tax Laws and International Taxation, will be the Part 1 & 2
respectively. Indirect Tax Laws will be the last paper, with Goods and Services
tax being the part 1, Customs & FTP will be the part 2.
You will need to
obtain at least 40% in each paper, and aggregate of all four papers should be
50% of total 200 marks, to clear the final course examination.
